Description de l'article par le vendeur
Micron Super Soft Quick Dry Towel is made of micron microfiber;Durable but as towels are used over time and in long-term humid environments, they can breed certain bacteria, becoming a new source of contamination after prolonged use.
It is recommended to replace towels regularly every 2-3 months.
1. How long is it appropriate to use a towel?
At the Home Textile Association annual meeting, experts recommended that personal towels should be replaced every 30 days or so, and no more than 40 days at most.
Some might say, isn't this too wasteful? But actually, there is a scientific reason behind it.
Towels become hard after prolonged use, and most importantly, they can become contaminated with bacteria, which is harmful to human health.
Practice has proven that coins, bedding, and towel products are the three main indirect transmission media for infectious diseases.
However, many people are still influenced by traditional ideas and have some unscientific usage methods; such as using one towel for multiple people, not replacing it until it's worn out, not paying attention to hygiene and neglecting product quality.
We know that towels are made from pure cotton yarn.
Cotton fiber has a tubular structure with hollow cells that can store moisture; its main chemical component, cellulose, contains many hydrophilic genes that can absorb water.
The moisture absorption and retention properties of the veil make the towel feel comfortable to touch, with strong stain removal capabilities for cleaning and hygiene purposes.
But it is precisely because of this characteristic that it provides favorable conditions for bacterial growth.
Bacteria like warm and humid environments the most.
Towels that remain warm and damp for extended periods, along with accumulated grease from human skin, dust, impurities from water, airborne particles, etc., can turn the towel into a paradise for bacteria over time.
Using such towels to wipe the skin not only fails to clean effectively but also contaminates the skin and clogs pores.
For women who like makeup and children with fast metabolism, towels are more likely to get infected due to excess skin oils, posing a particularly significant risk to human skin.
Therefore, experts suggest: don't wait until the towel is worn out before changing it.
Just like the lifespan of a toothbrush, the longest lifespan for a towel should not exceed 3 months.
2. The secret of towel natural wear and tear
Some people have reported that new towels can quickly develop holes or become partially brittle after use, mainly due to mold.
Our engineering and technical staff have found that most towel holes are irregular. Using a microscope to observe brittle damage and discoloration, they discovered that there is obvious mold growth on the fiber surface. Even after washing, fungal colonies can still be detected on the fibers.
Towels that become brittle and damaged are stored in damp and hot containers without drying after washing or wiping sweat. The longer they are stored, the more severe the damage becomes.
Some new towels also fall apart after washing.
These towels are starched towels that have not been washed or desized. The starch in them is precisely the nutrient base for mold. Once they are exposed to a humid, hot, and stuffy environment, mold will quickly grow and multiply, secreting enzymes that break down fibers and starch into glucose.
At the same time, the dandruff contained in sweat (including proteins, fats, amino acids, potassium, sodium, and other inorganic salts) further promotes the proliferation of bacteria and other microorganisms, releasing acidic substances that not only favor bacterial survival but also accelerate the hydrolysis of starch and fiber.
Therefore, new towels may become moldy and brittle in a hot, humid, and unventilated environment if they contain unclean starch paste after use.
Therefore, if you notice that the towel feels sticky and has a foul odor, you should wash it with soap as soon as possible and dry it in a well-ventilated area.
Newly produced towels must be desized, dried thoroughly, and cooled before being packaged for storage. They should not be stored in a damp and hot environment for too long to avoid mold growth.
3. How to distinguish the quality of towels
First, Appearance Observation: The towel has fine stitching, neat overlock edges, consistent width and height, straight horizontal and vertical lines, no slant or twist, uniform elasticity, neat pile height, upright pile loops; when holding the towel at eye level, the pile loops are smooth and clean, preferably those with minimal lint shedding.
It is best if the color is pure and bright without any uneven shades.
Secondly, touch: A good pure cotton towel feels fluffy, soft, and not greasy.
It feels soft and elastic when held in the palm, and no lint comes off when swatted.
Thirdly. Odor: Good towels have no strange smell.
If there is a candle smell or ammonia smell, it indicates that the softener was used in excess; if there is an acidic smell, the pH value might be too high; if there is a pungent smell, it means that a formaldehyde-containing color fixer was used, causing free formaldehyde to precipitate.
Fourth, test the hygroscopicity: Hang the towel and sprinkle water on it with your hand. If the water droplets do not roll off, it indicates that it absorbs and diffuses quickly with good hygroscopicity; if water droplets roll off, it suggests that there is an excess of softener or insufficient refining.
Fifth. Color fastness test: First, pour hot water around 80 degrees into a basin, then place the towel in and wash it up and down.
The color of the water in the basin should be good; if there is discoloration, it indicates poor dyeing quality and may harm human health.
According to Mr. Yang Donghui, President of China Home Textile Association, such towels are like "washing your face with industrial wastewater."
